    The Santa Monica Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in determining the circumstances surrounding the apparent stabbing of a homeless man while he was sleeping on a bus bench in the 500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

    On July 17, 2012 at 05:43 am, the Santa Monica Police Department received a call from a passerby who said he had found a homeless man who had been stabbed and was asking for help.

    Police officers and paramedics responded to the 500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard and found a male white homeless man in his late 50’s who had been stabbed. The victim was conscious and alert. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and his condition is stable but guarded. The weapon, a large knife, has been recovered.
