FELONY HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATION

The Santa Monica Police Department is asking for the public's help in gathering information regarding a hit-and-run traffic collision which left a 60-year-old homeless man dead. 

On Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at approximately 12:08 a.m., a 60 year old homeless pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while jaywalking across Lincoln Boulevard, just north of Ocean Park Boulevard. After the impact, the suspect vehicle fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid to the pedestrian. Paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition and placed on life support.

On Thursday, May 29, 2008, the victim finally succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.  He victim has been identified as John Cameron Wallen.

Suspect Vehicle Description:  Late model Toyota Corolla or Nissan Sentra, dark blue or black in color.  Due to the collision, the vehicle should have damage to its front end and possibly its windshield. The suspect vehicle was seen exiting the Albertsons Parking lot at 2627 Lincoln Blvd. just prior to the collision.
