Investigation Press Release dated May 14,
2008
On Sunday, May 11, 2008, the Santa Monica
Police Department responded to the 1900
block of 20th Street regarding a
report of a person lying unconscious on the
sidewalk. The victim was later identified
as Preston Brumfield, a Santa Monica
resident. Mr. Brumfield succumbed to his
injuries while at the hospital and was
pronounced dead on Friday, May 16, 2008.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office
declared the death to be a homicide.
This is an ongoing investigation and the
Santa Monica Police Department is seeking
the public’s assistance. There is no
suspect information at this time.
