On Monday, September 10, 2007, at 3:45
P.M., the Santa Monica Police Department
responded to the 1700 block of Ocean
Front Walk regarding gunshots being
fired. When the police officers arrived,
they were contacted by witnesses who
said that the suspects and the victims
had fled the location on foot. Officers
secured the possible crime scene and
processed it for evidence.
Preliminary investigation revealed that
two male Hispanics had been involved in
an argument with a male Black, when one
of the male Hispanics brandished a
knife. The male Black then pulled out a
handgun, pointed it at the male
Hispanic’s and a gunshot was heard. It
is unknown how many gunshots were fired
or if any of the male Hispanic’s were
injured, as they fled the scene walking
southbound on Ocean Front Walk. After
the gunshot was fired, the male Black
fled the scene. It is unknown what type
of handgun was used. No vehicle was
seen.
The suspect is described as: Male,
Black, 26 years old, 6’2/180 lbs. short
dread locks, no shirt and wearing black
and white plaid shorts.
The local hospitals have been notified
and this investigation is ongoing.
