On Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at 4:40
A.M., the Santa Monica Police Department
received a call from a local hospital
informing the department that a gunshot
victim had just walked into their
hospital. Officers responded to the
hospital and spoke with the victim.
Preliminary investigation revealed that
the victim had been sleeping inside of
his truck that was parked in the 1900
block of Cloverfield Boulevard when he
was awakened by unknown suspect(s) who
broke out the driver’s side window and
fled on foot. The victim drove his truck
and chased the suspects who turned west
onto Virginia Avenue. As the victim
drove down the street, several gunshots
were fired towards the truck. One of the
gunshots struck the victim in the upper
body and he drove himself to the
hospital where he was treated for a
non-life threatening wound.
This investigation is ongoing and at
this time the police department does not
have any suspect information.
