On Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 10:20 P. M., patrol officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the intersection of Wilshire Blvd. and 25th Street regarding a traffic accident. Upon arrival officers discovered that two elderly female pedestrians ages 77 and 81, were crossing in the marked crosswalk along 25th Street when they were struck by a vehicle (2007 Lexus) that was traveling east on Wilshire Blvd.
Both pedestrians were transported to a local hospital where their condition is listed as serious and stable.
The driver of the vehicle (male, 81 years old) was not injured and voluntarily submitted to a blood test.
The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
