On June 14, 2007, at 5:35 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the 1900 block of 20th street regarding gun shots being fired. Witnesses reported that several shooting suspects had fled on foot and no vehicle had been seen. No gun shot victim(s) were at the scene and no weapon has been recovered.
When the officers arrived on scene, they received information that one of the suspects seen running away from the scene may be hiding in a residence located in the area. Officers searched the residence and located the juvenile suspect hiding in one of the bedrooms.
The juvenile was arrested; however since he is a juvenile his identity is not being released.
At this time the other suspect’s are still outstanding and are described as male Hispanics.
While the officers were at the crime scene, the police department received information the victim of a shooting had walked into a local hospital and was being treated for a non-life threatening gun shot to his arm. Through our follow-up investigation we were able to determine that this victim had been shot in Santa Monica.
