On May 2, 2007, at approximately 7:10 PM, the Santa Monica Police Department received a call regarding a traffic collision with injuries involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of 4th Street and Idaho Avenue.
A preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle (2007 BMW) was being driven by a 37 year old female who was traveling southbound on 4th Street approaching Idaho Avenue. A 90 year old male pedestrian was on Idaho Avenue crossing 4th Street at an unmarked crosswalk, when he was struck by the vehicle.
Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to UCLA Hospital in Westwood, where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and has been cooperating with the Traffic Accident Investigators.
The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
