TRAFFIC COLLISION INVESTIGATION
March 7, 2007

On Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Santa Monica Police Department received a call regarding a traffic collision with injuries involving a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus and a pedestrian at the intersection of 2nd Street and Colorado Blvd.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the bus was traveling eastbound on Colorado Blvd, making a left turn onto 2nd Street, as a 40-year old female pedestrian was in the marked crosswalk of the intersection.  At this time, it appears that the bus struck the pedestrian as she was in the crosswalk.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is on-going.
