HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
December 28, 2006
 
 

On December 27, 2006, at 7:20 pm, Santa Monica Police responded to the 2300 block of Pico Boulevard regarding calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a subject who had been shot in the upper torso. Paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.  The victim, Miguel Martin, 22 years old, was a Santa Monica resident.

According to statements received from witnesses, it appears that the victim and two other companions were walking along Pico Boulevard. when a car drove along side of them and one of the occupants of the vehicle began to yell gang related comments. The victim and his companions ran away from the vehicle.  As they were running, several gunshots were fired.

he shooting suspect (passenger) is described as a male Hispanic 20-30 years of age, heavy set and clean shaven. The driver of the vehicle is described only as a male Hispanic.

The suspect vehicle is described as an 80’s or 90’s Honda Accord, black, 4 door.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Robbery/Homicide unit of the Santa Monica Police Department at 310.458.8451 or the Watch Commander’s Office at 310.458.8427.  Callers who wish to provide anonymous information may also call the We-Tip national hotline at 1.800.78.CRIME (27463).  Callers with information that leads to an arrest and conviction become eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
