ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

December 3, 2006

On December 2, 2006, at 9:45 pm, Santa Monica Police responded to the 1900 block of alley 17 regarding calls of shots fired. When officers arrived at the location, they were unable to locate any victims or suspects; however they did speak to witnesses.  While the officers were conducting their investigation, they were able to identify and make contact with a victim.

According to statements received from the victim and witnesses, it appears that the victim was driving her vehicle in the alley when she noticed the suspect’s vehicle stopped ahead of her. The suspect exited a vehicle and began shooting towards the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then ran back to his vehicle and fled the location. There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic 18 years of age wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The driver of the vehicle is described only as being Hispanic.  The suspect vehicle is described as a 2000 black or green Honda.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Robbery/Homicide unit of the Santa Monica Police Department at 310.458.8451 or the Watch Commander’s Office at 310.458.8427.  Callers who wish to provide anonymous information may also call the We-Tip national hotline at 1.800.78.CRIME (27463).  Callers with information that leads to an arrest and conviction become eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
