On September 30, 2006, at approximately 12:25 am, Santa Monica Police responded to the rear of 300 Santa Monica Blvd. regarding a fight in progress or a possible stabbing. When officers arrived they saw a fight in progress and saw three (3) male suspects were assaulting a male victim. At least one combatant was kicking the victim in the head. One of the suspects attempted to stab a second victim with a knife.
As officers approached the fight all three suspects fled on foot. One suspect was arrested after a brief foot chase. The second suspect ran to a vehicle parked nearby and an officer attempted to arrest the second suspect by ordering him to surrender. During the arrest the officer fired two shots at the suspect in an attempt to apprehend him. The suspect was not injured and drove away from the scene and was arrested moments later. The third suspect was located in the area and arrested without incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in serious condition with head trauma and abrasions.
The suspects are identified as: Suspect 1 is identified as Steven Casados, Male, Hispanic, 26 of Denver, Colorado. Suspect 2 is identified as Louis Casados, Male, Hispanic, 37 of Denver, Colorado. Suspect 3 is identified as Anthony Vasquez, Male, Hispanic, 18 of Denver, Colorado. All three suspects were booked of assault with a deadly weapon.
The investigation is on-going and is being handled by the Robbery-Homicide Unit of the Santa Monica Police Department.
