ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON
 
July 9, 2006
 
 

On July 9, 2006, at 3:07 p.m., Santa Monica Police responded to the alley rear of the 1900 block of Euclid Street regarding a call of shots fired.  Preliminary information revealed the victims were seated in a car when the suspects drove next to the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots.  No one was injured inside the victim’s vehicle.  The investigation indicates this incident appears to be gang related.

 

The suspects are described as: Suspect 1 is a Male, Hispanic, 14-16 years of age, 5’6 to 5’10, heavy build having dark hair.  He was wearing a black hat with a white “T” shirt.  Suspect 2 is a Male, Hispanic, 14-16 years of age, 5’10, thin build and having dark hair.  He was wearing a black hat with a white “T” shirt.

 

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a late 1980’s to early 1990’s Honda Accord, 2 door, gray in color with a black bumper.

 

Statement of James T. Butts, Jr. Chief of Police; "The cycle of violence that has developed over the last week will not be permitted to continue.  It will be stopped by an overwhelming police presence.   Effective immediately, the already enhanced patrol in the Pico Neighborhood will again be increased and there will be a more frequent  deployment of the police helicopter.  The individuals involved in these three incidents will be brought to justice."

Callers who wish to provide anonymous information may also call the We-Tip national hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463).  Callers with information that leads to an arrest and conviction become eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
