On Saturday, April 22, 2006, at 5:09 pm Santa Monica Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Lincoln Blvd. regarding a complaint of male threatening a female in one of the motel rooms. When officers arrived they contacted the occupants of the motel room and located two males inside the room. No female was present.
During the officer's investigation the two subjects admitted to using narcotics and were in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. A small amount of cocaine was found inside the motel room and both suspects were arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and for being under the influence of narcotics. The suspects are identified as Daniel Leroy Baldwin, male, white 45 years of age of Los Angeles and Winston Anthony Hunter, Male, black, 52 years of age of Santa Monica.
Baldwin’s bail was set at $10,000 and Hunter had no bail due to a parole hold.
The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on April 24, 2006 and the District Attorney’s Office declined to file felony charges and referred the matter to the Santa Monica City Attorney's office for consideration of misdemeanor charges.
