On February 28, 2006, at 9:21 pm, Santa Monica Police responded to the 2600 block of Pico Blvd. regarding a call of shots fired. When officers arrived they located a victim with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital were he later was pronounced dead. The victim is 15 year old Male, Hispanic, of Santa Monica.
Preliminary investigation revealed the victim and two friends were at Pico Blvd and 26th Street, when the suspect approached, yelled a Los Angeles-based Hispanic gang name several times, and fired several times at the three subjects, striking the victim. The victim was an honor student at Santa Monica High School.
The suspect is described as a Male, Hispanic, wearing a dark color hooded sweatshirt and a bandana over his face. A witness reported seeing a white pick-up truck, no further description, fleeing the scene of the shooting.
