ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON
October 5, 2005
 

On October 4, 2005, at 8:55pm, Santa Monica Police responded to the alley west of 16th Street in the 1400 block (approx. Broadway & 16th) regarding shots fired.  When officers arrived they located two gunshot victims.  Victim #1, a male, Black, 16 year-old was shot once in the stomach. Victim #1 is from Santa Monica and currently is on probation and wanted for robbery.   Victim #2, a male, Hispanic, 19 years of age was shot twice in the lower torso. Victim #2 is an admitted Los Angeles gang member.  He is on felony probation and is documented in Cal Gangs as an admitted gang member by Newton Division officers.    Both victims are listed in stable condition at a local hospital. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that Victim #2, who is not cooperative, said he was taking out the trash when the suspects drove by and shots were fired from the suspect’s vehicle.  The suspect’s vehicle is described as a possible white or silver, late 1980’s sedan similar to a Pontiac Grand AM. The suspect’s are described as two male, Hispanics.   

Anyone having information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Robbery/Homicide unit of the Santa Monica Police Department at 310-458-8451 or the Watch Commander’s Office at 310-458-8426.  Callers who wish to provide anonymous information may also call the We-Tip national hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463).  Callers with information that leads to an arrest and conviction become eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
