On September 25, 2005, at 1:18 am, Santa Monica Police responded to the 1500 block of 4th Street regarding and armed robbery and carjacking that just occurred. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were entering their vehicle when two suspects approached them. Suspect 1 forcibly grabbed the victim’s purse and sprayed the victims with pepper spray. Both suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away. Both victims were treated for eye irritation from the pepper spray.
A short time later, a Santa Monica Police Unit saw the suspect’s vehicle on the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway at La Brea. The suspect’s vehicle failed to stop for the police car and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle pursuit terminated at Laurel and Rosewood in Los Angeles after a traffic collision. The suspects fled and a perimeter was established. One suspect was arrested and the second suspect was not apprehended. A field show up was conducted and the suspect was positively identified. The suspect apprehended is identified as Keith Duane Pye, Male, Black, 22 of Los Angeles.
Suspect 1 is described as a Female, Black, 20’s, 5’6 – 5’7, 140 – 185 pounds, having black hair and she was wearing a white baggy “T” shirt and blue pants.
Pye was booked at the Santa Monica jail and charged with armed robbery, carjacking, felony evading, felony hit and run, and parole violation with no bail.
