On September 15, 2005, the Santa Monica Police Department will be conducting “Driver License and Sobriety Checkpoints” in the 1400 block of San Vicente Blvd, 1300 block of Washington Blvd and 1400 block of Marine Ave.  The checkpoint is in accordance with a State of California – Office of Traffic Safety grant. The grant entitled, “We LEADD – Westside Law Enforcement Against Drunk Driving” is intended to assist the community in traffic related areas and reduce the number of victims killed and injured in alcohol-involved and unlicensed driver related crashes.
