On February 19, 2005, at 7:29 pm, Santa Monica Police responded to the 700 block of 21st Street regarding an armed carjacking that just occurred. While officers were responding to the location, they saw the stolen vehicle in the 1400 block of 20th Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects failed to stop, and a vehicle pursuit occurred. The pursuit terminated when the suspect’s vehicle struck the curb in the 1700 block of 14th Street. After the accident, the suspects fled on foot and a perimeter was established. A search of the area was conducted, however, the suspects were not located.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim saw the suspects, and while entering his vehicle the suspects approached him. Suspect #1 then displayed a handgun and took the victim’s wallet and suspect #2 was seen driving off in the victim’s vehicle.
Suspect #1 is described as a Male, Black, mid 20s, 5’11” to 6’0, weighing 170-180 pounds, having black hair, having a dark complexion, wearing black “Kangol” hat, dark jacket, white “T” shirt, and dark pants. Suspect #2 is described as a Male, Black, 20-30 years of age, 5’10”, weighing 200-210 pounds, having black 1” Afro hair style, having a dark complexion, wearing white “T” shirt, dark pants and light colored shoes.
