Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer / Burglary
Suspects in Custody

Incident# 05-000308
 

On January 2, 2005, at 4:25 am, Santa Monica Police responded to a local hotel located in the 1400 block of Ocean Ave. regarding two theft suspects there now.  When officers arrived, the two suspects were attempting to leave the hotel in their vehicle.  As they fled, the driver attempted to run over the officers with his vehicle.   The officers were able to move from the path of the fleeing vehicle and were not injured.  After the suspect’s vehicle fled, the suspect’s were involved in an accident and struck the curb at Ocean Ave and Arizona Ave.  The airbag deployed and the suspects fled from the disabled vehicle.  A witness saw the suspects running in the 1300 block of Court 1 and called police.  A perimeter was established and with the assistance of Police K-9 “Duke” the two suspects were located hiding in the area.  Stolen property and narcotics were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. 

 

A field show-up was conducted and the witness positively identified the two suspects.  The two suspects were arrested and later transported to the Santa Monica Jail.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the two suspects were involved in the theft of property from other residents of the hotel.

 

Suspect 1 has been identified as Timothy James Kirkpatrick, M/W 25 of Westlake Village.  Suspect 2 is identified as Megan Jean Fitzpatrick, F/W 22, of West Hills.  Kirkpatrick was booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, burglary, and an outstanding felony warrant charging robbery and burglary and a parole violation.  No bail.  Fitzpatrick was booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, burglary and an outstanding felony warrant charging grand theft and a probation violation.  No bail.  Both suspects were booked for several narcotic violations.
