ATTEMPT MURDER / SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

On July 29, 2004 at approximately 9:54 P.M. Santa Monica Police responded to the 1700 block of Ocean Front Walk regarding a stabbing that just occurred. When officers arrived they found the victim laying on the ground with several stab wounds to the upper body. Apparently after the assault, the suspect fled on foot southbound on Ocean Front Walk. The suspect was detained by officers in the 2000 block of Ocean Front Walk. A field show-up was conducted and witnesses positively identified the suspect. Officers recovered the weapon used in the stabbing.

The victim, Male, Black, 42, Homeless, was transported to a local hospital and after surgery is listed in serious condition but stable.

The suspect is identified as Jackqualyn Tracey Weathers, Female, Black, 33, Homeless. Weathers was booked at the Santa Monica Jail and charged with attempt murder, probation violation and an outstanding felony warrant. Her bail has been set at $1,025,000.
