RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
May 24, 2004

On May 23, 2004, at 10:17 p.m., Santa Monica Police Department responded to the 2200 block of 4TH street regarding a residential burglary investigation.   When officers arrived at the location they spoke with the resident of the apartment, who told the officers that she had heard some noise’s inside her apartment and when she went to investigate, she saw the suspect inside her residence.  Upon seeing the suspect in her apartment, she fled to her neighbor’s apartment and called the police.

Responding officers set-up a perimeter around the apartment complex and with the assistance of the police K-9 unit, officers located the suspect inside the victim’s apartment.

The suspect was arrested and booked for residential burglary and probation violation and is being held at the Santa Monica Jail without bail. He has been identified as Mitsuya Tanaka, Male Asian, 35, transient.
