On May 16, 2004, at
approximately 3:00 a.m., Santa Monica Police
Officers were patrolling the area in the
1900 block of 17th Street when
they saw a group of individuals drinking in
public. Officers noted that one of the
individuals was in possession of a handgun.
When the officers attempted to detain the
suspect, he fled into a nearby residence.
Upon further investigation,
the officers arrested two suspects for
possession of a loaded firearm. Suspect 1 is
identified as Richard C. DeLaCruz, Male, H,
31 of Santa Monica and suspect 2 is
described as a Male juvenile. DeLaCruz’s
is currently being held at the Santa Monica
jail for possession of a firearm and for a
violation of probation with no bail. The
male juvenile was transported to a juvenile
detention facility.
