  Press Release: May 10, 2004 (Assault with Deadly Weapon)
ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

On May 8, 2004, at 9:00 a.m., Santa Monica Police responded to the 1500 block of Santa Monica Freeway embankment regarding an injured person. When officers arrived they found a male victim who said he was assaulted on Friday, May 6, 2004. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was confronted by two suspects who demanded his cell phone and property. During the incident, the victim claimed one of the suspects struck him in the head with a bottle causing a laceration. Apparently, the victim knows one of the suspects who are local transients. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.
Suspect 1 is described as a Male, Black, 50’s, 5’4, 200 pounds, wearing a blue/black “T” shirt and dirty jeans. Suspect may go by the name of “Smithy”. Suspect 2 is described as a Male only. Suspect 1 may frequent the area of Cloverfield Blvd. and Olympic Blvd. Loss is a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.
