CDL / DUI CHECKPOINT
March 13, 2004
 
On March 12, 2004, the Santa Monica Police Department conducted a checkpoint in the 2900 block of Olympic Blvd in accordance with a State of California - Office of Traffic Safety law enforcement grant. The grant entitled "CREATE - Community Resource, Education and Traffic Enforcement" is designed to improve traffic safety in the community.
The Santa Monica Police Department, issued 6 citations for a variety of vehicle code offenses. A total of 580 vehicles drove through the checkpoint and 130 vehicles were stopped in a five-hour period.
The goal of these programs aim at educating and bringing awareness to our community, while at the same time detecting and removing drunk and irresponsible drivers from our roadways.
