HOTEL FRAUD INVESTIGATION SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

On March 5, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. Santa Monica Police received a call to the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue regarding a fraud investigation. Santa Monica Police Detectives responded and received the information regarding the suspect.

Apparently, the suspect was traveling nationwide using a fraudulent credit card to pay for his hotel rooms, car rentals and other expenses. The suspect telephoned a local hotel and made his room reservation using the fraudulent credit card. At approximately 11:00 a.m., the suspect arrived at the hotel and for unknown reasons ran out of the hotel. Santa Monica Detectives who were at the hotel saw the suspect running and gave chase. The suspect was arrested shortly after a brief foot chase and perimeter.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Santa Monica Jail and book. The suspect has been identified as Samuel Jackson, M/B 23 of Beverley Hills. The suspect was booked for attempt grand theft, burglary, probation violations, and several outstanding warrants. There was no bail.
