On November 25, 2003,
at 5:35 p.m., Santa Monica Police responded to the 1300 block of
Euclid regarding shots fired. When officers arrived they spoke to a
female who said that she was walking in the alley (75 yards north of
Santa Monica Blvd/east of Euclid) with a male friend. The female
victim said that she heard what sounded like fireworks in a far
distance and continued walking. Seconds later, the female felt pain to
her lower back and realized that she had possibly received a gunshot
wound. Neither the victim nor her male companion saw any person in
their vicinity that could have been responsible causing this injury.
Santa Monica Fire
Paramedics responded and provided first aid and transported the female
to a local hospital. The female victim is listed in stable condition
and while paramedics were treating her she was conscious, alert, and
responded to questions being asked. She was later transported to a
local hospital for follow-up medical care.
It is unknown exactly
where the possible gunfire came from and officers are conducting an
investigation. More information regarding the exact nature and extent
of the injury will be available after the medical examination of the
victim.
Anyone having
additional information is encouraged to contact the Santa Monica
Police Department at 310.458.8491.
