On
November 21, 2003, at approximately 1:35 p.m., Santa Monica Police
responded to the 1900 block of 17th Street regarding
possible gunshots heard in the area.
At
the scene, officers discovered the victim of a minor gunshot wound to
the arm. The
investigation revealed Suspect #1 (Male, African-American, 30-years
old) shot at the victim then fled in a gold colored Chevrolet.
Suspect #2, a Female, African-American, 20-years old,
reportedly drove the vehicle south on 17th Street, then
eastbound on Pico Boulevard. The
victim was treated at the scene for a grazing gunshot wound and
released.
During
the course of today’s investigation, Samuel Antoine Johnson (Male,
African-American, 31-years old), was identified as the gunman in the
attempted murder.
At
approximately 6:00 p.m., Santa Monica Police Investigators observed
Johnson walking towards a vehicle in the 1400 block of Euclid Street.
Investigators took him into custody without incident.
He was later booked at the Santa Monica Jail for attempted
murder and a parole violation. Johnson
has no bail at this time.
The
investigation is on going.
