On
July 15, 2003, Santa Monica Police Investigators arrested Anthony
Wayne Smith, M/B, 36, of Marina Del Rey. He was charged with arson and
booked at the Santa Monica Jail.
This
investigation began on February 13, 2003, at 1:43 am, when Santa
Monica Police Units and Fire Units responded to a fire in the 2300
block Lincoln Blvd. Preliminary
investigation indicated the fire was suspicious in origin.
Upon further investigation the Santa Monica Arson Task Force,
which is made up of Police and Fire personnel, determined the fire was
incendiary and began a criminal investigation.
The Los Angeles City Fire Department assisted and provided
their accelerant detection K-9, “Buster”, and other resources
during this investigation.
The
suspect’s bail has been set at $1,000,000 and he will be arraigned
on July 16, 2003, at the Airport Branch of the Los Angeles County
Courthouse.
The
case has been filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s
Office. No additional
information will be provided by this agency.
