On
June 10, 2003, at approximately 6:30 P.M., Santa Monica Police
Officers patrolling the Pico Neighborhood stopped a black Chevrolet
Tahoe for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard.
During the traffic violation investigation, officers recalled
the description of a black sports-utility vehicle used in a shooting
on June 5, 2003. Furthermore,
the two occupants, Andre Stephaun Alexander and Rodney Lenny Crayton
matched the physical descriptions of the suspects involved in the June
5th shooting. During
a later search of the vehicle, a loaded handgun was discovered along
with other evidence that may link them to the Delaware Avenue
shooting.
Alexander
and Crayton were arrested and transported to the Santa Monica Jail. Alexander’s bail is set at $1 million and Crayton has no
bail.
Once
again, anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to
contact the Robbery/Homicide Unit of the Santa Monica Police
Department at (310) 458-8451.
