On
June 5, 2003, at approximately 12:30 P.M., Santa Monica Police
responded to the 2200 block of Delaware Avenue regarding possible
gunshots. Upon arrival,
officers discovered evidence of a shooting.
A
preliminary investigation revealed shots were fired at two male
occupants of a parked vehicle in the 2200 block of Delaware Avenue.
The passenger of a black sport-utility vehicle (SUV) traveling
east on Delaware Avenue fired multiple shots in their direction.
The shots hit their vehicle and another unoccupied vehicle on
Delaware Avenue. A Santa Monica Police officer assigned to the Pico
Neighborhood Substation responded from Virginia Avenue Park and was on
scene immediately. There was limited cooperation from the
victims/witnesses at this point of the investigation.
Some of the victims/witnesses have gang affiliations with a
local Santa Monica gang.

Male, African-American, 20-years old, wearing a gray baseball
cap with a black brim.
