On
April 17, 2003, 10:30 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department responded
to the 2400 block of Wilshire Blvd., Wells Fargo Bank, regarding an
armed bank robbery in progress. When
officers arrived a witness told an officer that he saw the suspect
place a weapon in a trash can and continued to walk westbound on
Wilshire Blvd. Officers
checked the area and saw a possible suspect in the 2100 block of
Wilshire Blvd. A felony
stop was made and the suspect was detained.
A field show up was conducted and several witnesses identified
the suspect.
The
suspect is identified as Calvin Tyrone Combs, M, B, 36 years of age.
He was arrested and taken to the Santa Monica Jail and booked
for armed bank robbery and felony probation violation.
No bail.
An
undisclosed amount of U.S. currency was recovered in the suspect’s
possession. The
suspect’s weapon was recovered and booked into evidence.
