On March 5, 2003, at approximately 8:35
P.M., Santa Monica Police responded to the 1600 block of Michigan
Avenue regarding possible gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered
evidence of a shooting.
A preliminary investigation revealed
three subjects were walking westbound in the 1600 block of Michigan
Avenue when a dark colored (possibly maroon) compact vehicle drove
east alongside the pedestrians. A passenger fired shots in their
direction, striking two of the pedestrians. The victims are two male
adults from Santa Monica and Los Angeles. The third subject was not
injured. Immediately following the shooting, the victims were driven
to a local hospital by a friend with non-life-threatening wounds.
Police responded to the hospital for the investigation. The victims
were later released from the hospital.
Suspect # 1: Male, Hispanic, 26
-27-years old, wearing a blue baseball cap.
Suspect # 2: Male, Hispanic, 20-years
old. No further description.
