On
February 19, 2003, 4:08 p.m., Santa Monica Police Department responded
to 400 Wilshire Blvd., U.S. Bank, regarding an armed robbery in
progress. When officers
arrived a witness pointed at the suspect who was walking from a parked
vehicle in the 1200 block of Court 4.
Officers detained the suspect and witnesses later positively
identified him as the bank robber.
Officers
recovered a replica firearm and a jacket used in the robbery.
An undetermined amount of U.S. currency was recovered in the
suspect’s vehicle. The
suspect’s vehicle is described as a 1998, Mitsubishi, Eclipse, 2
door, white in color which was recovered at the scene.
The
suspect was taken to a local hospital due to an unrelated medical
condition. The suspect is identified as James Michael Stevens, M/B 53,
transient. Stevens was
booked for armed robbery and has no bail.
