On December 21, 2002,
the Santa Monica Police Department participated in the Statewide DUI
enforcement program "Drink, Drive, You Lose" sponsored by
the State of California - Office of Traffic Safety and the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration, by conducting a saturation
patrol on Lincoln Blvd, south of Pico Blvd and Main Street, south of
Pico Blvd.
The Santa Monica
Police Department’s Traffic Division issued 21 citations for various
vehicle code violations and arrested three individuals for driving
under the influence. A total of 59 vehicles were stopped in a six-hour
period.
The goal of these
programs aim at educating and bringing awareness to our community,
while at the same time detecting and removing drunk drivers from our
roadways.
