FELONY VANDALISM
SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY
UPDATED

September 16, 2002

On September 12, 2002, at 11:35 p.m., Santa Monica Police responded to the 1300 block of the 3rd Street Promenade regarding vandalism to City property. When officers arrived they saw that unknown suspects had destroyed the eight concrete planters and the plants. Officers spoke to several witnesses to the crime and photographed the damage.

Officers conducted a follow-up investigation and contacted additional witnesses that led to the identification of the suspects responsible for this crime. On September 13, 2002, officers saw the suspects in the downtown area and arrested the suspects. All the suspects were booked for felony vandalism.

The Chief of Police wants to make it clear that the promenade, the parks, and all open spaces are open to everyone and he will not tolerate vandalism or any individuals who attempts to monopolize those public spaces.

The suspects have been identified as:

Suspect 1 - Marc Thomas Murphy M/W 18, transient, bail set at $20,000

Suspect 2 - John Michael Adams, M/W 19, resides in Escondido, bail set at $20,000

Suspect 3 – Jennifer Francis Millar, F/W 26, transient, no bail due to felony probation violation.

Suspect 4 – Sidney John Clements, M/W 18, transient, bail set at $20,000.
