On
August 26, 2002, at 1:28 a.m., a Santa Monica Police Officer saw
suspicious activity in the area of Cloverfield Blvd. and Michigan Ave
at the Mobil Gas Station. The
officer followed a vehicle that left the gas station parking lot and
attempted to make a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Cloverfield
Blvd. The suspect’s vehicle pulled to the curb, then quickly
accelerated southbound on Cloverfield Blvd.
The suspect’s vehicle went eastbound on Virginia Ave and
northbound on High Place where the vehicle crashed into a parked
vehicle. The occupants
fled on foot. One suspect
was arrested after he was discovered hiding in an apartment laundry
room.
A
short time later, Santa Monica Police were contacted by the employee
at the Mobil Gas Station who said that he was robbed by armed suspects
in a white truck. This was the same vehicle that fled from the
officer.
The
suspect was taken to the Santa Monica Jail and booked for armed
robbery. The
suspect was identified himself as Yuseff LaTeef Graves, Male, Black,
20 of Los Angeles. The suspect’s bail has been set at $66,000.
