August 19, 2002

DR# 02-069530

On August 17, 2002, at 4:30 p.m., Santa Monica Police responded to Clover Park, 2600 block of Ocean Park Blvd., regarding suspicious circumstances.  When officers arrived they spoke to the reporting party who said that she found broken glass in the sand of the metal sandbox located in the children’s play area.  Officers checked the sandbox area and found several pieces of a broken bottle near the base of the children’s slide.  No one was injured due to the broken glass.

It is unknown at this time how the broken glass got into the sandbox area.  Parents are encouraged to check the sand area before their children begin to play for the next 30 days.  If broken glass or sharp objects are located, please contact the Santa Monica Police Department immediately at 310.458.8491. The Youth Services Division is handling this investigation.
