On
April 20, 2002, at 6:38 p.m., Santa Monica Police Department responded
to the area of California Ave. and 22nd Street regarding
suspicious circumstances. When
officers arrived, they spoke to the reporting party who said a subject
was looking through their fence and spoke to one of her children.
The subject walked to his vehicle that was parked in the alley
and left the area. The
reporting party was able to obtain the vehicle license plate.
Police
officers handling the initial investigation determined that the
vehicle was registered to a sex offender and notification was made to
the Department of Justice, Sexual Predator Apprehension Team (SPAT).
Investigators from the SPAT Team conducted a surveillance of
the subject, which led to his arrest.
The subject was arrested in Los Angeles and the case will be
forwarded for criminal prosecution. No additional information regarding this case will be
released.
