The
Santa Monica Police Department in collaboration with Santa Monica
Place and Santa Monica High School will be hosting a complimentary
breakfast for the graduating senior class of 2002 on Monday May 13,
2002. All senior class
members who are participating in the Santa Monica High School Prom
scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2002 will attend this event.
Santa
Monica Place, a Macerich Company, will host a continental breakfast
for the students while they view the video “Every 15 Minutes”
which was produced by the Santa Monica Police Department.
The subject of discussion will be on the effects of drinking a
driving. *Alcohol use by
teen drivers is an especially deadly mix.
More than a third of all motor vehicle-related teen deaths
involve alcohol. This
community partnership is to help insure that the senior prom and high
school graduation are joyous occasions and not a time of family grief
due to the preventable death of a
son or daughter.
Chief
James T. Butts, Jr. will be the guest speaker at this special event.
