On
May 2, 2002, Santa Monica Police Detectives were investigating a
series of street armed robberies that had been occurring in Santa
Monica.
During the investigation, Santa Monica Detectives contacted
detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's West L.A. and
Pacific Divisions. As detectives exchanged information, they
discovered similarities in robberies occurring in both jurisdictions.
Detectives
of the Santa Monica and Los Angeles Police Departments continued their
investigations, which lead to a possible license plate of the
suspect's vehicle.
The vehicle was found parked and unoccupied in the city of Los
Angeles. A surveillance of the vehicle was initiated.
A person matching the description of the robbery suspect
entered the vehicle and was subsequently arrested. The suspect was
transported to the West L.A. Station of the Los Angeles Police
Department where detectives from both agencies interviewed him.
The
suspect has been linked to at least several street robberies in Santa
Monica and over 20 street robberies in W.L.A. and Pacific Divisions.
A handgun and additional evidence was recovered in the
suspect's vehicle.
Detectives from both agencies are processing the vehicle for
the evidence.
The
suspect is identified as Krsnadasa Perez, Male Hispanic 20 years old.
