On
September 5, 2001, at 8:43 A.M., Santa Monica Police received a call
regarding a group of 10 -12 demonstrators in front of a business
located in the 1500 block of Cloverfield Blvd.
When officers arrived at the location, they contacted an
employee who complained about the demonstrators.
One demonstrator chained herself to the main door leading into
the business and refused to unchain herself. Access to the business
was blocked for arriving employees and clients wishing to conduct
business. Officers spoke to the demonstrator and asked her to unchain
herself and leave the private property.
The demonstrator refused and was informed that she would be
placed under private person’s arrest for trespassing. An additional
charge of resisting arrest was added due to her non-compliance with
the officer’s orders. The demonstrator was arrested and transported
to the Santa Monica Jail.
The
demonstrator is identified as Valerie Anne Sklarevsky, female, 56 and
resides Malibu. Her bail
is set at $1,000.00.
