On
August 7, 2001, at 1134 hours Santa Monica Police responded to the
area of the 1200 block of Ocean Ave regarding an Armed Robbery that
just occurred. The suspects were last seen driving a dark color
mid-size SUV southbound on Ocean Ave.
Shortly, after the police broadcast, the suspect’s vehicle
was seen in the 1700 block and officers attempted to make a traffic
stop. The vehicle failed
to stop for the officers and later crashed in the 400 block of
Hollister. Two suspects
fled on foot and a perimeter was established.
One
suspect was arrested after an area search and officers are still
conducting a search for the second suspect. The outstanding suspect is
described as a M/B in his 20’s wearing a white “T” shirt.
The weapon used in the robbery is described as a handgun.
Property
taken in the robbery has been recovered.
