Traveling with
Your children.

Going on trips can be fun and educational. . .they can also be tiring and stressful. Children have shorter attention spans and cooping them up in a vehicle or airplane cabin doesn't help. Here are some hints to keep your children occupied and busy when traveling:
-
Pack one or two favorite toys as space allows.
-
Take books, magazines and coloring books, especially if taking a train, boat or plane.
-
Pack some nutritious snacks that travel well and don't require preparation.
-
Pack water or other liquid for both you and your children.
-
Sing songs to pass the time.
-
Take turns changing seats--this gives your children a different point-of-view on the trip.
-
Have your children help read the map.
-
Play travel games: count out-of-town license plates; guess how many miles to your destination; count all the cars like yours; count all the red cars, etc.
-
Stop often to stretch your legs and use the restroom.
